Keeping it Together!

How are you adjusting to life during COVID? Kids are back in school, many companies have already had their employees go back to the office, traffic is heavy – there is a lot to adjust to, again.

Seems like 2020 has been the year of adjustment. We have had to adapt to new work environments, new ways to grocery shop, get creative to keep our kids busy, learn to have patience, and some of us have become master chefs – who knew you had it in you to whip up a fancy meal? – Go you!

It is safe to say we have all been trying to adjust to one thing or another. Those with kids, are going back to school – this time through a virtual environment, some of us are heading back to the office a couple days out of the week, and some of us may even be set up to permanently work from home.  So how are you all doing with the new change? While everyone has a different schedule you must find time to take care of yourself mentally and physically – Stress can come whenever we need to adjust to something new, and do not worry, you are not alone. There are many parents and individuals out there trying to figure it out just like you are.

There has been a lot of changes this year due to the pandemic, but I think we are adjusting the best we can and we are doing okay. So, what can you do to make sure you find some peace during the adjustment period? Make time for yourself, check in with your friends and family, disconnect from electronics as much as you can, when you can. We know it’s tough and we want to help you as much as we can to keep you mentally and physically happy and healthy – let’s get the blood flowing!

Here are some recommendations to help you unwind and get your blood flowing:

  • Establish a night routine for yourself and your family.
    • Sleep is important for all ages and it important that we unwind our minds prior to sleeping. Disconnect from your electronics/ TV at least 30 min before going to sleep and try to easy the mind by reading a book.
    • Make sure your bedroom is quiet, dark and at a comfortable temperature.
    • Take a bath/ shower right before bed
    • Avoid eating large meals prior to sleeping
    • Good to sleep early
  • Exercise
    • Take a morning stroll to wake the body up and get it moving
    • Try online Yoga or meditation classes
    • Take your breaks and get some fresh air whether it be 10, 15, or 30 minutes, try to go outside and walk.
  • Healthy habits
    • “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day” – having a balanced breakfast can help you get the nutrients you need to get your day started. If you are not a big breakfast person that’s okay – some aren’t. Throughout the day try to eat healthy, balanced, colorful meals, this will help you fuel your body and help you not feel sluggish as if you were to eat fast food or greasy snacks throughout the day.

Try snacks such as Nuts, Berries, Fruits, protein bars, and smoothies (perfect for hot summer days).

  • Stay Hydrated!
    • Drink Water and plenty of it!

We hope this helps you find some peace during your busy days and can help you keep moving forward, in the end, we are in this together!
