Do you know when you will be able to receive the vaccine?
As you may already know County and State officials across the United States are trying their best to make the COVID Vaccine available to all. As of now the COVID vaccine is being distributed but are limited and currently only given to people based on tiers. Those who are in the Healthcare and community support categories (such as but not limited to Public health personnel, inpatient healthcare providers, outpatient, and home health providers) are able to receive the vaccination first.
As mentioned, since there are limited quantities of the vaccine, Tiers are in place to manage and distribute to those most at risk, first. You can find the Tier chart on the CDC website or you can find the tier chart here. The Tier Chart will display the following information: Category, population groups within certain categories, Estimated numbers of people within that population group and color coated severity levels. Having access to the tier chart is a great way to stay informed as to when it will be “your turn” to receive the vaccine.
We would also like to share with you, California of Department of Public health has created a site, My Turn, in which you can register to receive notifications of when it is your turn to book your appointment to receive the vaccine. At the moment, Los Angeles and San Diego Counties are the only counties able to use this site but more counties will become available. You can click here to be directed to Myturn.ca.gov
State and local officials are doing what they can to have the vaccine distributed to as many Americans as possible within the next couple months. Re-openings of business have been issued under limitations. As we have seen in the past, with the re-openings of businesses and during the holiday seasons, the number of positive cases increased. Unfortunately, just because we have the vaccine, and it is being distributed we must remain conscious of our actions and continue to follow the guidelines that have been in place since the beginning of the pandemic. The guidelines are to protect you, your family, the community and to bring our nations heroes, those out on the frontlines fighting the pandemic back home safely.
Whether you are in favor of the vaccine or not please do your part and social distance, wear a mask properly, wash your hands often, stay home if you are sick. The communities around us need to stick together and get through this pandemic together. As days go on, each day should be one step forward not one step backward, but we all need to be in this together.
