Flu season is right around the corner and since we are still in the pandemic it is important that we remain conscious of our surroundings and continue to do our best to stay healthy. Throughout the pandemic we could not stress enough the importance of good hygiene, social distancing and staying home if you are ill. 2020 has taught us the importance of these simple rules and had made more people realize it
COVID- 19 has changed our lives and unfortunately has had such an impact on us that it took a pandemic for many to realize the importance of washing your hands, avoid touching your face and over all taking care of one’s health. I’d say that people are less likely to be out, especially now if they are feeling under the weather.
Since many of the common Flu symptoms align with those of COVID, it can easily scare people the moment that they get sick. There are things to consider as well, since the Flu and COVID have such similar symptoms, COVID may include loss of taste or smell. Everyone is different so the way it affects one individual it may not affect another one in the same way.
Both Flu and COVID are respiratory illnesses and again have similar symptoms, if you should feel sick and are concerned or worried that you may have contracted the virus you can always consult with your doctor or get tested to determine if you have the flu or COVID.
Some common symptoms between the Flu and COVID are:
– Cough
– Fever/ Chills
– Fatigue
– Sore throat
– Muscle/ body aches
– Headache
COVID specific symptoms include those listed above and may include loss of taste/ smell.
How to protect yourself and others
As we have been doing more carefully since the onset of COVID, when you feel under the weather stay home. If your symptoms are worsening, consult your physician for guidance or go to an urgent care, and do not wait last minute. It is better to tackle the illness in the early stages of its onset then waiting it out. Continue to Social Distance, wear your mask, limit the exposure to others and stay home. Following these steps will help limit your exposure, as the flu and COVID can be contracted the same way.
We hope this flu season you all stay safe and healthy.
