Thanksgiving is just days away and as many families typically gather around for the holidays, this year will be a little different. The pandemic has sure taken us for a ride this year, and although we have managed to work with the limitations and recommendations from the local officials, cases have still increased. This year, many people are staying home for the holidays and gathering with immediate family members only. And, although airports are still open and people can travel, many have decided not to fly home until the number of cases drop.

The Pandemic can take a toll on our mental and physical health and with the holidays around this can affect them even more. If you are not going home for the holidays or know a family member is not coming home, reach out to your family! Holidays are meant for spending time with extended family and friends and with the pandemic we all must adjust and put our health and the health of others first.

As the year has gone by Facetime and Zoom have become extremely popular, and not just used for work purposes. Families have been able to celebrate birthdays, weddings, game nights, and even host dinners virtually. But we understand it’s the holidays, and it feels different not being with family, physically but we will get through this together. This year has been challenging for all of us and we will get through this together if we all do our part.

If you decide to attend a gathering, take proper precautions and stay home if you are feeling slightly ill. Check with your local officials to see if there are any restrictions, curfews, or recommendations based on your county/state. Follow the basic guidelines on proper hygiene and avoid contact (hugging, kissing with others just to be on the safe side.)

We hope you all have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
