2021 blog post

As we prepare to ring in the New Year, we reflect on what 2020 has taught us all, what truly matters, our Health. This year many have lost their lives due to COVID-19 as it has left many families struggling to move forward financially, and mentally. Not only have many lives been lost this year, but many have also lost their jobs, businesses and homes, the ability to gather with extended family during the holidays, and schools have converted to an online setting along with so much more. Everyone had to make huge adjustments to their schedules, and the way they lived – for some this was necessary to make ends meet and survive the pandemic. With lockdowns and Stay at home orders in place across the country, the numbers of cases slowed but then the Holiday season came, and the number of cases skyrocketed.

As we reflect on the past year and we can see how we can do better come 2021. COVID-19 will not go away overnight, but we are taking a step forward. The vaccine has come out and has already been given to those on the frontlines and to those most at risk. As the rest of the population patiently wait for them to release it to the public, we must do our part and listen to our local authorities and follow the recommendations they are providing for our safety, Social distance, wear a mask, wash your hands, and stay home as much as possible. Of course, you can go to the grocery store to buy the essentials but if possible, only have one household member go to the store to buy the supplies.

So, let us bring in 2021 by being safe this holiday season and help those on the frontlines by lowering the number of cases we see in the emergency rooms and ICU units. Let’s do our part and stay home with those in our household to bring in the New Year! As previously mentioned in our other blogs, there are many home activities you and your family can do in the comfort of your own home. You can also set up a zoom call or facetime call with your extended family to ring in the new year if you’d like, it is super easy to set up these calls and you will be all able to celebrate together, just from their own homes! Dress up of Dress down to bring in the New Year, but let’s make it special, hold those close to you tight and remember why we are taking the extra step to be careful. Do it for yourself, do it for those on the frontline, do it for your community, do it for your family.

2021 will be a year that we will reflect on what we lost in 2020 and make sure to cherish all the new memories we are able to make. HSP wishes you all a Happy, Healthy, and Joyous New Year!
