Have you heard the news?! Early March, Governor Newsom had announced Theme parks/Outdoor sports venues in California will be allowed to reopen as of April 1, 2021! Although Gov. Newsom has announced the reopening of theme parks such as Disneyland, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Sea World, and Knotts Berry Farm can be as early as April 1st, we have not seen these theme parks give the official reopening date to their parks.
Two of California’s theme parks such as Knotts Berry Farm and Disneyland who are known for their food have opened their doors for the public to enjoy their food in the downtown districts. Each theme park has been taking precautions and following the safety measures that have been in place by local officials to keep their guests safe as possible. Per Disneyland’s website, under Enhanced Health and safety Measures”, they have Enhanced protective measures which require all guest and cast members to wear a mask, including children over the age of 2, Hand washing stations have been added throughout the park, physical distancing signage has been placed to help keep the guest cautious of their surroundings, Temperature checks will be mandatory for all guest entering the downtown district and theme parks, and they have limited person to person contact by removing all cash handling – payments will be through their app. For more details on the safety measures Disneyland has in place please visit their website Disneyland’s COVID Safety Measures. Knotts Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain have also been open throughout the past year to allow guests to come in and enjoy their outdoor restaurants and experience holiday decorations during the holiday season.
These theme parks are underway to make a comeback and ensure upon the reopening they do what they can to remain open and will enforce the strict guidelines in place by the government officials. Along with the reopening, some guidelines that will have to be considered would be the limit on capacity within the parks. With the vaccine distribution and decrease of positive COVID cases, we hope the capacity can increase within time. Each theme park and venue that is allowed to reopen will be monitored and based on the county’s number of positive cases will determine the tier level they are placed on.
2020 has been a challenge for many businesses and with the announcement of the reopening of theme parks and outdoor sports venues we hope to see businesses pick up and get back on their feet. The communities should continue their part in monitoring when they are able to receive the vaccine, wear masks, social distance, wash or sanitize their hands often, avoid unnecessary travel and social distance. We have come along way and things are slowly opening, let’s continue to do our part!
