Trick or Treat!
Halloween has been a holiday were family and friends can get together and dress up as their favorite character, celebrity, even a vegetable so in other words anything they want! It is also a time where many families go to pumpkin patches, haunted houses, and on Halloween day they go door to door around the neighborhood and get candy! Many kids and some adults look forward to Halloween all year long. Due to COVID it has been recommended that we stay indoors as much as possible and avoid going to places that are unnecessary and crowded to avoid contact with others and help lower the spread of COVID.
Restaurants and businesses are starting to open again with limitations based on the state and county you live in. So, for Halloween some areas are allowing pumpkin patches to open, and some haunted houses have now converted to a drive in Haunted house (which is pretty cool!) This allows us to still celebrate Halloween as much as we can, with limitations while being safe. So, fear not, Halloween has not been cancelled, entirely.
While Trick or treating has been always been a treat, this year due to the pandemic you can get creative and avoid going house to house and interacting with strangers. We all hope everyone is taking all the safety measures, but you never know so why risk it? But if you choose to go trick or treating make sure to be safe. We have put together some helpful tips for those who do end up trick or treating and for those looking for a way to bring the fun of trick or treating to their home.
Go out Trick or Treating:
– Check with your local authorities to see if our state/county has any restrictions on trick or treating.
– Wear gloves and a mask!
– RESPECT the homes (if the lights are out, do not go knocking on the door)
– If there is a bowl of candy for people to free hand out of, consider skipping that house. (often times too many hands have been in that bucket)
– If someone is handing out candy, make sure they are wearing gloves and a mask.
– Try to stop children from reaching into bowls at the door (yes, many kids do this) let the host give then the candy.
– If you are touching the candy without gloves, avoid touching your eyes, mouth, nose.
– As always, CHECK THE CANDY before eating
Bringing the trick or treating home!
– This might be your opportunity to turn your house into a haunted house for your family!
– Create a theme for each room!
– Place a bowl of candy in each room and as they go through the room, they can get some candy!
– Scavenger hunt anyone? Count me in!
– Hide some candy throughout the house, just be sure all candy is accounted for!
– Create a Halloween basket for the kids, adults in the household with some Halloween goodies!
– Have a Halloween movie night with classic Halloween movies, Hocus Pocus anyone?!
– Make candy apples with some of your favorite toppings!
These are some suggestions we have made to make this Halloween a little more exciting for you and your family. We hope you enjoy some of these recommendations and make this Halloween a memorable one!
Happy Halloween!
